A Spanish Left-Hand Dagger
Late 17th Century
The broad sharply tapering blade with convex main edge and false edge towards the point, the back decoratively notched and bordered by a pierced fuller, and struck on one face with a letter 'S', the hilt with long straight slender writhen quillons with button terminals, arch-shaped fluted hand-guard with flanged file-roped edges and with ornamentally pierced guardapolvo, compressed spirally gadrooned pommel, and wooden grip bound with twisted wire set with longitudinal notched iron strips
