A Spanish Left-Hand Dagger
Circa 1650
With slender tapering blade of stiff diamond section, the broad ricasso with thumb-recess, pierced with two holes and with two side-bars for sword-breaking, decorated with punched dots, and with file-roped edges, hilt with straight partly writhen quillons with button terminals, triangular hand-guard with border of pierced and chiselled running foliage and flanged gadrooned edges, compressed pommel chiselled with foliage, and wire-bound wooden grip
