An English Hanger
Late 18th Century
With curved single-edged blade double-edged towards the point, with broad central fuller, the forte lightly etched with dragons, trophies, turbanned heads and spear-carrying female figures, the etching retaining traces of gilding, steel half-basket 'slotted' hilt, the knuckle-guard with an inset representation of a sword with a waved blade, and pierced for a sword-knot ring (missing), and carrying an S-shaped guard dividing into two scrolls on the outside, cushion-shaped pommel and fluted ivory grip
