The first by W.A. Beckwith, London, No. 2556, the second by Richard Burnand, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, both mid-19th Century
The first with signed barrels, signed engraved back-action locks, safety-bar behind the trigger-guard, figured walnut half-stock, chequered grip, engraved iron mounts, and silver escutcheon engraved with a crest and the initials 'RB' (ramrod missing), London proof marks; the second with rebrowned twist barrels, engraved tang and signed locks, figured walnut half-stock (repaired), rechequered grip and fore-end, engraved iron mounts, and brass-tipped ramrod with worm, Birmingham proof marks
