An Unusual 28-Bore German Flintlock Sporting Carbine

With heavy swamped octagonal sighted barrel cut with eight grooves, signed behind the back-sight, and engraved with a band of acanthus foliage at the muzzle and breech, engraved tang, rounded lock engraved with a satyr and a monster, and signed on the tail (top jaw and screw replaced), the cock and steel each finely pierced and chiselled with scrolls, chiselled steel-spring, moulded figured walnut full stock (minor repairs) carved with foliage in relief behind the barrel tang, iron mounts including engraved flat side-plate and pierced trigger-guard with foliate finials, single turned ramrod-pipe, and original wooden ramrod with white staghorn tip
