An 18th-Century brass graphometer,
signed Macquart Paris on the limb, with finely divided protractor scales, the bridge formed of two dolphins with a cartouche engraved with a castle in a lake landscape, the compass with blued-iron needle and brass cap, supported by a base plate secured by three screws to the frame, moulded with two finely engraved dolphins and an oak leaf border, the alidade and base line with sights, on ball-and-socket joint and staff mounting -- 10¼in. (26cm.) wide
