A 19th-Century lacquered-brass Jones' Most Improved-type compount monocular microscope,
unsigned, the body-tube located on an arm at the top of the triangular-section limb, with friction clamp and location pin, the eared stage adjusted by rack and pinion motion, the ears with location points for various accessories, the lower section of the limb with plano-concave mirror adjustable by a friction clamp, the limb raised on a compass joint and folding tripod stand, the intrument in assembled stage -- 17½in. (44.5cm.) high, contained in a green plush-lined fitted fishskin-covered case with accessories, including a frog plate, condenser, sprung-stage, bull's-eye condenser, lieberkuhn, live box, a cased set of eight ivory sliders, forceps, tweezers and other items, the case with brass carrying handle, key escutcheon and two hooks and eyes -- 13½in. (34.3cm.) wide
