The marquetry interior of this table cabinet reflects a type of marquetry decoration, which was developed in Augsburg in the second half of the 16th Century, under the influence of Lorenz Stoër's Geometria et Perspectiva etlicher zerbrochener Gebew, published in Augsburg in 1567. Stoër's architectural designs have a somewhat unrealistic character, with a strong Horror Vacui, whereas the style of the present marquetry interior is clearly more endebted to early 17th Century painting.
