A PAIR OF FRANCO-FLEMISH BAROQUE WALNUT ARMCHAIRS
Circa 1660
Each with rectangular padded back and seat covered in 17th Century gros and petit point needlework, one with back depicting a deer flanking a blossoming tree, the seat with a stag, the second depicting a rabbit and a dog by a rosebush within a flower border to back and unicon to seat, all within flower-filled cartouche borders, flanked by foliate-carved downscrolled pierced stretcher centering a pair of putti holding a crown, on acanthus-carved shaped legs joined by a similar H-form stretcher with acanthus and wheat-sheath-carved pad feet (2)
