The circular case cast with guilloche and stiff leaf designs, with serpent suspension loop above, rising from a milled finial with repeat button to the top, glazed front and rear doors, the engine-turned dial with reserves for individual Roman chapters and panel to the centre signed P. WICHMANN IN WIEN, blued steel hands and alarm set hand, strike/repeat/alarm on gong via three hammers to the backplate; now with vertically positioned French lever escapement
