The case with gilt-brass handle to the spreading top, on moulded base with block feet, pierced brass quarter frets to the top of the front door, arched glazed side panels and solid rear door, brass dial with foliate spandrels to silvered chapter ring with matted centre, mock pendulum aperture (no pendulum), black painted steel hands, silvered circular plaque to the arch signed Jno. Bailey London, the single chain fusee movement with anchor escapement; case basically 18th century, movement 19th century
