Woven in wools, depicting a bull hunt, with numerous hunters on horse back pursuing bulls and tying ropes to their horns, the background with hunters on foot holding a bull, within a foliate and fruiting border with birds and a rabbit, within a later brown outer slip, reweaving and patching

Lot Essay

A very similar bull hunt scene with nearly identical figures to the foreground but variations to the background is illustrated in J. Boccara, Ames de Laine et de Soie, Saint-Just-en-Chausse, 1988, p. 188.
