Thomas Weeks (d. 1834) established a 'Royal Mechanical Museum' or emporium in Tichbourne Street during the early 19th Century. An ormolu and black marble inkstand, similar to the present lot and signed by Weeks, was sold anonymously, in these Rooms, 17 April 1997, lot 2. A paperweight with two poodles drinking from a fountain, was sold anonymously, Sotheby's London, 14 June 1996, lot 66.
