A CHINESE-EXPORT BRASS-MOUNTED COROMANDEL-LACQUER CABINET ON A SILVERED STAND
19th Century
The cabinet decorated overall with polychrome scenes depicting an elder riding an ox over the bridge with a pagoda on the left and surrounded by rocks and trees, the right side depicting a man fishing at night, the rectangular top with a cornucopia, above a pair of doors enclosing one long drawer above six small drawers and a door enclosing six smaller drawers, on a stand with a gadrooned frieze above a pierced apron depicting putti within pierced scrolling foliage and green-painted S-scrolls, flanked by a herm figure to each corner, on scrolled leaf-wraped cabriole legs, the underside with label 'FARLEY', the reverse with initials 'C.M.'
