A 13 inch (33cm.) diameter terrestrial table globe made up of twelve colour printed paper gores and two polar calottes, the equatorial graduated in hours, the eclip[tic ungraduated, the oceans showing trade winds, ocean currents, telegraph lines, the voyages of Magellan and Vasco de Gama and others, and five 'ethnographic illustrations' consisting of a stereotypical depiction of a particular race of people (eg INDIANEN OP ROODHUIDEN) and details of areas to which the race is indigenous, the continents with nation states variously and delicately coloured denoting areas of national possession, Antarctic with projected coastline (old surface abrasions and discolouration, new varnish) engraved iron meridian half circle raised on an ebonised turned pillar and plinth base
