A pair of 2 inch (6.3 cm) diameter terrestrial and celestial miniature facsimile globes unsigned, undated, copied after Gerard Mercator (1512-1594) - 1541 (terr.) 1551 (cel.), each made up of twelve printed coloured paper gores and two polar calottes, the terrestrial with compass roses and much detailing, with rivers hand coloured boldly in blue, the Tropics and Arctic and Antarctic circles, equator and ecliptic hand coloured boldly in red, with several descriptive cartouches, the celestial with constellations depicted by mythical beasts and figures and instruments, with several cartouches, both with engraved brass meridian circle, hour dial and latitude pointer, the papered horizon circle supported by ebonixzed four legged Dutch-style stand -- 3 inch (9.5 cm) high freestanding on painted wooden base with inlaid compass with carved wooden surround, triangular perspex cover (2)
