Maker's mark of Edward C. Brown, London, 1869, the horses unmarked
The acanthus chased spreading stem two sides applied with military trophies, applied below with six overlapping vacant discs, with two applied swords, the top with two lion's masks, the exterior of the gilt lined bowl chased with radiating leaves, with gallery rim, the two upswept handles topped by a running horse, the cover topped by mounted jockey jumping a fence--16in. (41.1cm.) high, 71.5oz.
