A museum display quality .1/8th scale model of the W.& A. McOuie designed single inclined cylinder 10hp stationary engine of circa 1850
built by A. Walshaw No.360 with unlagged cylinder 16in. bore x 3in. stroke, overmounted and longditudinally offset valve chest with separate steamways and cast inlet and exhaust ports, the slide valve operated by an eccentric driven curved slide with round guides, the die block connected to a quadrant and rocking lever, the valve spindle with tail shaft guide. The cylinder, supported in bearings mounted in curved trunnions and with adjustable steam glands, the piston rod with gibbed and cottered bearing is directly connected to the crankshaft which is in turn supported in bearings mounted on pierced frames. Further details include spoked flywheel and belt pulley, eccentric driven feed pump, belt and gear driven governor, linkage and valve, inlet and exhaust pipes, with flanged joints and main stop valve. The engine is finished in blue and polished brightwork and mounted on wooden bearers on a simulated slate floor with wooden walkways and hand rails with barley sugar turned staunchions and display base -- 17 x 19in. (44.5 x 48.3cm.)
