Of rectangular form, carved on one face with a thirteen line kufic inscription within a border formed of a continuous bahari inscription, plain outer band, one corner damaged

Lot Essay

The kufic inscription in the centre states that this is the tomb of Abu'l-Tahir (sic.) b. Ahmad al-Mu'izzi, known as Ibn al-Tabib, who died on Friday 12th rabi' al-awwal, the year 636 (23rd October 1238 AD). The cursive border inscription is koranic: sura ii, v.255.
