A QAJAR POTTERY GLAZED TILE SHUTTER
TEHERAN, PERSIA, CIRCA 1880
Comprising two hinged rectangular shutters within a similar frame, each of the shutters with a central panel depicting a moulded and painted dervish on a yellow ground with painted flowers, within a cusped surround, on green ground of interlaced arabesques, a reserved naskh inscription cartouche above and below, the central door jamb with flowering vine interrupted by raised rosette bosses, a floral panels below and figural panel above, the frame with polychrome gul-o bulbul designs on a white ground overlaid by the mounting metal rosettes, the chamfered edges with reserved black and white arabesque interlace, slight repairs, upper frame band with break, on metal frame
