Lot Essay

These units, made by the British Philco factory, were dropped in enemy-occupied territory in the latter part of the Second World War, to enable resistance workers to receive coded messages from the BBC's European Service Transmitter. The brick-like dimensions of each unit made them easy to conceal in a wall.
