A Meissen Hausmalerei teacup and saucer
Circa 1745, blue crossed swords mark
Painted at Bayreuth in the workshops of J.F. Metzsch, the teacup with a gilt wishbone handle, the interior with an elaborate border with flowering branches issuing from shaped panels of diaper and herring-bone ornament centred by puce fans, within a gilt band rim, the saucer similarly decorated around a central bouquet of flowers, the undersides of both moulded with naturally coloured flowering and fruiting prunus branches (slight flaking to enamels of underside of saucer)
