Lot Essay

Nash first travelled to the Isle of Skye in 1957. He continued to visit annually, staying with Barbara and John Langston at Peinmore in Portree. Barbara Langston later recalled that the best of Nash's Skye pictures was The Quiraing, which he painted on his first visit.
