A Regency mahogany quarter striking bracket clock
Ellicott, London; first quarter 19th century
The brass-lined case with handle to break-arch triple-pad top, pierced brass fishscale sound frets to the sides and on bracket feet, the dial with white enamel Roman and Arabic chapter disc signed Ellicott London with pierced gilt-brass hands, subsidiary enamel discs above for pendulum regulation and strike/silent, the gilt overlaid mask engraved with garlands of flowers and a central harp in the arch, the massive seven pillar triple wire fusee movement with anchor escapement, quarter strike on two bells with hour strike on a further bell, the backplate with simple border engraving and signed Ellicott London in the centre
