The case with foliate-tied brass handle on later walnut moulding to the domed top, foliate pierced walnut sound frets to the front door and to the glazed sides with in-set brass pulleys for the two repeat cords, Knibb's typical winged cherub swivel escutcheons to the front door, glazed rear door and on typical solid rectangular moulded base, the 6 in. sq. dial signed Joseph Knibb London beneath the silvered chapter ring with Roman and Arabic numerals and finely pierced and sculpted blued steel hands, matted centre, winged cherub spandrels and strike/silent lever above XII, latches to the three dial feet and to the five vase-shaped pillars, twin wire fusees, knife-edge verge escapement, hour strike on the larger bell via a rack system planed on the backplate with the pull repeat striking quarters on a smaller bell and operated manually from either side aided by brass pulleys, the backplate profusely engraved with flowerheads among scrolling foliage and signed in the centre Joseph Knibb Londini Fecit
