The case with re-built plinth with original floral marquetry panel, the trunk door inlaid with sprays of flowers eminating from gadrooned urns with birds and masks, lacking mouldings and with later hinges, marquetry inlaid convex throat moulding to the forward-sliding hood with twist columns to the marquetry-inlaid door beneath a later sound fret and flat top, the 11 in. sq. dial signed Tho. Speakman Londini Fecit on the silvered chapter ring with elaborately pierced blued steel hands, the finely matted centre with ringed winding holes, decorated calendar aperture and subsidiary seconds ring, winged cherub-and-foliate spandrels, the movement with five ringed pillars, anchor escapement and inside countwheel strike on a bell; case with restorations
