The moulded rectangular top above a pair of doors with foliate arabesque panels enclosing a small door surrounded by eleven drawers, and with further secret drawers behind, the lower section with two short drawers above two long drawers, on a moulded plinth base and bracket feet, restorations, previously with bun feet, the left-hand door replaced, the reverse of the doors reveneered

Lot Essay

The cabinet's filigreed arabesques of acanthus-enriched ribbon-scrolls relates to the work of Gerreit Jensen (d.1715) of St. Martin's Lane, and in particular to the 'fine markatree' of a glazed cabinet that he supplied to King William III in 1693 (R. Edwards and M. Jourdain, Georgian Cabinet-Makers, London, rev. ed., 1965, p.123).
