Signed Kozan and sealed Makuzu, Meiji Period (Late 19th Century)
Decorated in green-grey and tenmoku glaze over-enamelled with various colours and gilt with branches of pine and a spray of camellia, with wood box inscribed Kenzan no i wakamatsu no e Makuzu Kozan saku [Young pine tree design after Kenzan by Makuzu Kozan]

Lot Essay

The inscription on the box refers to the celebrated ceramic artist Ogata Kenzan (1663-1743).
