Impressed seal Makuzu, Meiji Period (Late 19th Century)
Decorated in various coloured enamels and gilt, finely moulded in high relief with two pigeons perched on a blossoming tree growing among sprays of peonies and chrysanthemums, the rim with an elaborate band of geometric and floral designs, with wood box inscribed Ninsei-gama Makuzu Kozan-o tsukuru kazarizawa [Decorative plate by old man Makuzu Kozan from the Ninsei kiln]
