For an apostle in Urbino's Pentecost in the church of San Marco, Milan, executed in the early 1570s, G. Bora, op. cit., fig. 25. Giulio Bora first suggested an attribution to Urbino for the present sheet together with several others in the Ambrosiana, Milan, previously given to Giovanni Paolo Lomazzo, all of which are black and white chalk studies of standing figures on blue paper, G. Bora, op. cit., p. 104. He notes that they correspond to Urbino's Pentecost rather than Lomazzo's neighbouring Foppa Chapel to which they had previously been connected.
We are very grateful to Jonathan Bober for his help in compiling this note.
