The attribution was kindly confirmed by Mario Di Giampaolo. The drawing is probably an unused study for the numerous single figures set in ovals painted on the vaults of the choir and central nave of the Duomo at Parma, M. Di Giampaolo, Girolamo Bedoli, Florence, 1997, nos. 16 and 30, illustrated pp. 56-8 and pp. 82-4. Mario Di Giampaolo connects three further drawings in the Louvre to these figures, op. cit., nos. 123-4, and inv. 8621, unpublished. These drawings, of the same technique as the present one, also show parallel lines as background for the figures.
