Born Princess Charlotte of Prussia at Berlin on 13 July 1789, the daughter of King Friedrich-Wilhelm III, she married at St. Petersburg on 1/13 July 1817 Grand Duke Nicholas Pavlovich, the future Tsar Nicholas I. She bore him seven children and died at Tsarskoe selo on 20 October/1 November 1860.
