The case with brass handle to domed top, brass elongated urn finials to the angles, glazed side panels, on brass flattened bun feet, the later 7in. square dial with engraved border and mask and foliate scroll spandrels, silvered Roman chapter ring with fleur-de-lys half hour markers and half quarter hour markers, bearing spurious signature Joseph Smith Barthomley, matted centre with engraved border to date aperture, engraving to centre of a sun mask flanked by doves, ringed winding hole, cut steel hands, the single wire fusee movement with re-converted verge escapement, now lacking pull quarter repeat train, the backplate engraved with foliate scrolls and with a hatched border; composite, case, dial and movement associated, dial 20th century, movement early 18th century, case with restorations and replacements, parts early 18th century
