An 8-inch (20.3cm.) diameter terrestrial table globe made up of twelve coloured printed paper gores and two polar calottes, the equator and prime meridian graduated in dgrees, the latter running through Iceland, the ecliptic graduated in days and showing symbols for the houses of the Zodiac, the oceans showing ocean currents, cable lines and steamship routes labelled with ports of arrival and departure and distances in nautical miles, the continents with nation states outlined in various colours, Madagascar shown as French, Panama shown as prior to independence, further showing rivers, mountains, towns, cities and other details (some old rubbing), with stamped brass hour dial showing numbers 1-12 twice, the brass meridian circle divided in four quadrants, the octagonal papered horizon delicately coloured and graduated in degrees and days twice for the months, with names, and for the houses of the Zodiac, with pictures and symbols, further labelled with wind directions (some old rubbing, two small areas of paper loss to edge), raised on an ebonised tripod stand with baluster turned central pillar and cross stretchers to brass-cased compass with blued steel needle -- 18in. (47cm.) high
