With sloping rim on short foot, the interior painted in the typical 'Rhodian' palette with a central red ground roundel containing interlaced arabesque leaves emanating from a central stellar roundel, the cavetto with alternating blue and green cusped panels, in a stylised polychrome scrolling S-motif border, rim chips, rim and foot drilled
12½in. (31.8cm.) diam.

Lot Essay

A similar dish with green ground is exhibited in the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford.
