A ROMAN WHEEL-CUT GLASS VESSEL FRAGMENT
circa 4th century a.d.
Free-blown of pale green glass, preserving the side and rim of a vessel with wheel-cut ornament, including horizontal bands below the rim, with a rectangular panel framed by wheel-cut lines with a scene of a draped woman with both arms outstretched towards a nude warrior, a mantle draped over his left shoulder, a spear in his left hand, his right hand raised, a plant between the two and on either side, with the edges of three decorative medallions preserved to the right, left, and below
