FIRST EDITION, PRESENTATION COPY to Anton lock (inscribed in pencil on text title-page and below each lithograph "To Anton Lock from his friend James Pryde") from the artist, brother-in-law of William Nicholson and his partner in the "Beggarstaff Brothers". The portraits illustrate Jack Sheppard, Dick Turpin, Ratsey II ("The Hook-Handed"), Samuel Shortland the Notorious Bully, John Price ("Barn-stormer and Thief", and Louis Dominique Cartouche.
