AYLLON, Solomon (c. 1655-1728). Autograph notebook, containing a kabbalistic treatise with Shabbatean undertones. MANUSCRIPT ON PAPER

16o (132 x 97 mm). 28 leaves. Brown ink. Oriental cursive script. (Occasional minor soiling, otherwise excellent condition.) Modern blind and gold-tooled brown morocco, two modern paper flyleaves at back and front.
CONTENTS:
Fols. [1]r: originally blank, with later inscription; [1]v-[3]v: blank; 1r: originally blank, with later inscriptions; 1v: blank; 2r-20v: text; 21r-[25]r: blank; [25]v: originally blank, with later inscription.
The author was born in Salonica in the middle of the seventeenth century. He settled in Safed and in 1689 was appointed Haham of the Jewish community in London. In 1700 he was appointed Rabbi of the Portuguese community in Amsterdam, a post which he held until his death in 1728. This autograph notebook, in which he wrote a kabbalistic treatise with Shabbatean undertones, was probably written before he came to London. The manuscript was published by Y. Nadav, in Sefunot 3-4 (1959/60) p. 301-346.
