MORDECAI BEN HILLEL (d. 1298). Sefer Mordekhai (on laws of Mo'ed). MANUSCRIPT ON VELLUM
[Ashkenaz, 14th century]
250 x 170 mm. 83 leaves, modern lead pencil foliation. Various dark brown inks. Ashkenazic semi-cursive scripts, copied by several hands. On parchment sheets of various sizes. (Many corners with modern restorations, only occasionally affecting single letters, some natural holes, soiled and stained, not affecting readability.) Modern blind and gold-tooled brown morocco, two modern paper flyleaves at back and front.

This is the shorter version of the redaction called Mordekhai sterreich. This manuscript was used for variants in the edition of Mordekhai ha-Shalem. For a description of this manuscript, see the edition of tractates Rosh Hashanah, Yoma and Sukkah (Jerusalem 1989) p. 12, note 42, and p. 29.
