Lot Essay

The head of the young girl was probably drawn from a Greek model whose features are similar to those of the Girl seated in a Cemetery. Two other studies may have been inspired by a Judith killing Holofernes. The technique of these studies is reminiscent of the preparatory drawings, all prior to 1820, for the figure of Liberty in Liberty leading the People in the Louvre, M. Serullaz and L.-A.
