A Japanese Imari charger
Edo Period (Early 18th Century)
Painted in iron-red, green, yellow and gilt on underglaze blue, the central medallion with a branch of flowering peonies, enclosed by a band of scrolling foliage and flowers, the well and broad rim with branches of prunus, peony and chrysanthemum issuing from rockwork, the reverse with chrysanthemum sprays (some rubbing to the gilt)
