A LATE-VICTORIAN GILTWOOD AND GILT-COMPOSITION SIX-LIGHT OVAL PIER GLASS
The oval plate in a beaded and laurel slip with entwined foliate mirrored border, within a ribbon twist and lappeted frame, surmounted by a pierced scrolling foliate and ribbon-tied cresting and with scrolling foliate apron, with a pair of branches each with three scrolling foliate arms with turned nozzels and drip-pans

Provenance
An 'Adam' mirror of this pattern was purchased around 1860 by John Derby Allcroft (d.1893) for his Italiante mansion in Lancaster Gate, most probably through Messrs. Howard & Son (sold Stokesay Court, Shropshire, Sotheby's house sale, 28 September 1994, lot 138). Another very similar mirror was sold anonymously, in these Rooms, 14 November 1991, lot 86 and another was sold anonymously, also in these Rooms, 24 September 1998, lot 97.

Lot Essay

An 'Adam' mirror of this pattern was purchased around 1860 by John Derby Allcroft (d.1893) for his Italiante mansion in Lancaster Gate, most probably through Messrs. Howard & Son (sold Stokesay Court, Shropshire, Sotheby's house sale, 28 September 1994, lot 138). Another very similar mirror was sold anonymously, in these Rooms, 14 November 1991, lot 86 and another was sold anonymously, also in these Rooms, 24 September 1998, lot 97.
