The later rectangular plate within a moulded foliate carved frame and flanked by pierced C-scrolls, the cresting with a central open cartouche flanked by further C-scrolls above a conforming apron, refreshments to the gilding, restorations to peripheral carving, possibly originally with further mirror to cresting

Lot Essay

An 18th Century example with closely related inner moulded frame is illustrated in S. Levy Il Mobile Veneziano del Settecento, Novara, 1996, vol II, pl. 291, while another, related model is illustrated Levy, op. cit., pl. 295.
