Lot Essay

This gun is an exceptionally fine example of one of the most important developments in the evolution of the British sporting gun. The gun retains virtually all of its original finish and appears almost unused. Needham's 1874 patent incorporated a barrel-cocking hammerless design with an effective ejector system and was of vital importance to the continuing evolution of the sporting gun in the late nineteenth century
