Burger Johannes Stephanus Albertus Oelofse was made an Acting Veld Kornet in Dordrecht, Cape Colony after the Boers rebelled and annexed the town to the Free State Government. Dordrecht was to the north of Stormberg, just outside the sphere of British military control and entered by Olivier on 2.12.1900. Oelofse subsequently fought at the Battle of Stormberg, was captured when the British eventually snuffed out the rebellion and occupied Dordrecht, and sent to Tokai Prisoner of War Camp in the Cape for the remainder of the War.
