Major W.H. Olivier was Commanding Officer of 88th Battery from April 1901 until May 1902, awarded the Brevet of Major and Mentioned in Despatches (London Gazettes 29.11.1900 and 10.9.1901 refer).

Educated at Cheltenham College and "The Shop", Olivier was originally commissioned into the Gunners in February 1886. A Railway Transport Officer at Southampton in the Great War, he did not qualify for further medal entitlement.
