Meiji Period (Late 19th Century), Red Enamel Mark Satsuma Shozan, Blue Enamel Shimazu Crest
Painted in polychrome enamels and gilt over a clear crackled glaze with butterflies and peonies blooming behind a brush fence and on bamboo trellises, the foot and shoulder decorated with a formal band of chrysanthemums and a narrow band of gilt scrolling vines around the neck
