A SILK-ON-LINEN NEEDLEWORK SAMPLER
Wrought by Sarah Giblett, dated November 15, 1786
Worked in blue, green, cream, pink, yellow and brown silk threads on a linen ground in eight alphabetical and numeric registers above a border with stylized trees and foliage over a horizontal verse inscribed, "Give your Heart to your Cr/eator. Reverence to your/superiors. Honour to your/Parents. Your bosom to yo/ur Friend. Diligence to your/calling ear to good coun/sel and alms to the poor.", above a border with baskets issuing flowers centering a geometric design over a vine border issuing flowers above "Sarah Giblett, November ye/15 1786"
