The large ebony inlaid hood with swan neck cresting and oval panels to the sides, the square top trunk door with chequer banding and flanked by chamfered angles, on stepped plinth raised by bracket feet, the 14in. wide arched white dial with scene in the arch of a farming couple with an armorial and with banner inscribed SPEED THE PLOUGH, the spandrels painted with exotic figures emblematic of Empires, signed to the centre JON. BROWN IRVINE, with subsidiary seconds and date rings, pinned directly to the four pillar rack striking movement with anchor escapement; possibly associated -- 87in. (222cm.) high
