Circa 1820, gilt decorator's mark of Chappe Paris
Painted with a view of the 'Golfe de Naples', the shaped border gilt with a band of foliate scrolls edging trellis centering a coat-of-arms and the motto 'Deo et Rege', gilt line rim, 8.1/8in. (20.6cm.) square; together with a paw-footed cup with scroll handle and palmette terminal, printed in black with a palace within a gilt border, the interior of the everted mouth also gilt (2)

The arms are those of Philip Henry, Fourth Earl of Stanhope.
